Job Title: Senior Instrument and Control Engineer

Job Purpose:

To lead and execute instrumentation and control engineering activities in projects with a focus on the design, integration, commissioning, and troubleshooting of Turbine Control Systems, Integrated Control and Safety Systems (ICSS), Compressor Controls, and Field Instrumentation. The role includes ensuring reliability, safety, and efficiency of rotating and static equipment control systems.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Lead the preparation and review of engineering deliverables such as instrument datasheets, control narratives, cause & effect diagrams, I/O lists, and loop diagrams.
  2. Design and integrate control strategies for gas turbines, steam turbines, compressors, and pumps using OEM-specific platforms (e.g., GE Mark VIe, Siemens, CCC, Woodward).
  3. Prepare specifications and technical bid evaluations for DCS/PLC/SCADA, ICSS, compressor control panels, vibration monitoring systems, and field instruments.
  4. ICSS and Turbine Control Systems: Review, and integrate ICSS (e.g., Yokogawa CENTUM VP, Honeywell Experion, Emerson DeltaV, etc.).
  5. Interface and integrate Turbine Control Systems (Mark VIe, Woodward, Siemens PCS7, etc.) with ICSS and utility systems.
  6. Good knowledge in process field instruments (pressure, temperature, flow, level, analyzers, etc.) according to project requirements and international standards (API, IEC, ISA).
  7. Compressor and Machine Monitoring Systems: packages (e.g., CCC, Siemens, Solar). Review and support the interfaces with Machine Monitoring Systems (e.g., Bentley Nevada 3500 series) for vibration, axial displacement, and temperature monitoring.
  8. Ensure integration with ICSS, ESD, and data historian systems.
  9. Project Execution & Coordination: - Provide discipline leadership across all phases of EPC projects — from FEED to detailed design, FAT, SAT, commissioning, and handover.
  10. Coordinate with process, mechanical, electrical, and automation teams to ensure complete system integration.
  11. Conduct vendor document review and ensure timely approvals. Interface with OEMs, subcontractors, and clients during design reviews and FAT/SAT sessions.
  12. Site Support & Commissioning - Supervise instrument loop checks, logic checks, SAT, and commissioning of control systems and instruments.
  13. Troubleshoot system faults during commissioning and start-up- Support performance tests and plant optimization activities post-handover.

 Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Instrumentation Engineering.
  • 15+ years of relevant experience in oil & gas, petrochemical, or power plant I&C engineering, including field exposure.

 Key Skills and Competencies:

  • Proficient in Turbine Control Systems (GE Mark VIe, Woodward, Siemens).
  • Experience with ICSS platforms (Yokogawa, Honeywell, ABB, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of field instrumentation and hazardous area classification.
  • Experience in compressor control systems and anti-surge logic (CCC or equivalent).
  • Familiar with machine monitoring systems (e.g., Bentley Nevada).
  • Excellent knowledge of ISA, IEC, API, and SIL/SIS standards.
  • Strong interpersonal, coordination, and leadership skills.

Certifications (Preferred):

  • TÜV Functional Safety Engineer (SIS)
  • OEM Training Certifications (GE, Siemens, CCC, Bently Nevada)
