Senior HSE Engineer (Technical Safety)

Responsible for leading and managing technical safety engineering activities for offshore oil and gas projects. Provides expertise during FEED, detailed design, and project execution to ensure compliance with industry regulations, company standards, and best engineering practices.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead technical safety deliverables during FEED, detailed design, EPC phases.

  • Develop and review HAZID, HAZOP, SIL, QRA, Bow-Tie Analysis, and other safety studies.

  • Prepare and check technical safety design documents, including fire & gas detection layouts, escape routes, firewater systems, safety equipment specifications, and hazardous area classifications.

  • Ensure project compliance with international standards (API, NFPA, ISO, IEC, OSHA) and client requirements.

  • Provide technical guidance to multidisciplinary engineering teams on safety design.

  • Participate in design reviews (3D model reviews, layout optimization, ALARP demonstrations).

  • Lead risk assessment workshops and ensure implementation of risk-reduction measures.

  • Support incident investigations and root-cause analyses when required.

  • Interface with clients, classification societies, and regulatory bodies on safety matters.

  • Mentor junior HSE/technical safety engineers and support continuous improvement.


Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Process, Safety, or related field).

  • 15+ years of experience in HSE/Technical Safety engineering in the oil & gas industry.

  • Strong background in offshore projects, including fixed platforms, FPSOs, and brownfield modifications.

  • Proven experience in FEED and detailed engineering design for safety systems.

  • Proficiency with technical safety software (e.g., PHAST, PIPESIM, Safeti, Fire & Gas mapping tools).

  • Strong understanding of international safety standards and offshore regulatory requirements.

  • Excellent communication, leadership, and client-interface skills.
