Position: Pipeline Technician
Location: North West England
Salary: Circa £30k depending on qualifications; £900 flex fund and company vehicle
Main Purpose of Role:
Responsible for ensuring the delivery of routine and adhoc tasks on a number of Pipelines within the AME portfolio. Delivering operational activities from completing day to day tasks and ensuring work reports are completed to the required standard. The role requires engineering and operational knowledge and the ability to provide solutions to pipeline associated activities. The role also delivers significant financial contribution for the Asset Management Service Line along with high level of client and employee satisfaction inline with our company values.
Responsibilities:
- To deliver Pipeline related services throughout the business.
- Undertake the day to day planned operations and other tasks Including:
Monitoring pipeline wayleaves. Responding to third party requests for intervention and mediation. Pipeline furniture husbandry. Vegetation control. Minor mechanical maintenance. Compiling, updating and issuing infringement reports, line data reports, site visit sheets.
- Plan and execute Pipeline inspections and specialist surveys such as ac voltage monitoring, CIPS and DCVG surveys and ensure delivery of reports within agreed timelines.
- Engage contractors and employees for all CP related activities, including site supervision of direct and contract labour.
- Site visits to investigate and expedite CP related matters and concerns where required.
- Carry out assessments and onsite training for technicians or staff in other sectors of the business.
- Ensure that company procedures are followed and relevant documentation is completed. Complete weekly reporting and submit on time.
- Ensure full and detailed records are maintained on all plant and operations completed (both manual and computerised)
- Ensure availability of all safety critical systems.
- Carry out assigned duties and work without direct supervision potentially in remote locations.
- Provide training, advice, guidance and support to other teams or individuals when applicable.
- Team work and development across all Penspen UK activities to achieve business objectives and improve performance.
- Adhere to Penspen UK Health, Safety and Environment policy and comply with employee responsibilities listed in the Health, Safety and Environment Handbook
- To bring to the attention of the QHSE Department any failures that are in breach of the Company QHSE policies and processes and any dangerous situations.
- Prepare Risk Assessments/Method Statements for pipeline related tasks
- Carry out any other duties that might reasonably be expected for the post holder
Knowledge / Experience (Skills):
- Excellent organisational skills
- Experience of dealing with client/land owners, or of a similar nature (desirable).
- Solving technical problems quickly and smoothly.
- Fully flexible and mobile.
- Working as a Team Player and ability to work alone.
- Experience of buried pipelines and Cathodic Protection knowledge.
- Good computing skills required include Microsoft Office applications specifically Word, Access and Excel.
- Good oral, written and interpersonal skills.
Qualifications:
- 5 GCSE’s (NVQ LeveL 3) standard minimum requirement.
- A current valid UK driving license is essential to this position.
- Ideally a member of the Institute of Corrosion
- Ideally should have achieved a minimum of Level 1 (buried on-land structures) to BS EN ISO 15257 or equivalent.
