Penspen www.penspen.com are looking for a dynamic, commercially minded manager Head of Performance - Gas who thrives in an operational environment.

This new additional role is to drive performance improvement.  It is responsible for leading the commercial and account management group in the gas sector driving the client centric approach and creating headroom for the AME Director to focus on strategic direction and growth.

Main Purpose of Role:

The role will drive operational and leadership excellence in commercial and account management, manage risk and develop a sustainable continuous improvement culture that achieves excellent client engagement / retention where Penspen becomes a trusted partner which translates into sustainable, upwardly trending financial success.

 

To ensure contract and account management is delivered by meeting the business requirements and delivering quality service to our clients. To prepare reports based on risk and performance, highlighting key areas for improvement, and developing the appropriate implementation and mitigation plans. Ensure contract performance is analysed and recommendations presented to improve both contract performance and financial position.

 

This role will provide critical support to the Director of Asset Management Europe with regard to ensuring the high performance of the Asset Management service line in Europe.

 

Qualifications:

  • Suitable degree in either engineering discipline or business administration
  • Proficient in Microsoft suite products – advanced excel
  • Further education qualification in leadership & management desirable 

 

Knowledge / Experience (Skills):

  • Competent in the use of Microsoft Applications
  • Experienced in the development and deployment of Continuous Improvement or Business Improvement Techniques

Responsibilities:

  • Team leadership
    • Develop and embed within the account management and commercial team the culture of collaboration, accountability, and excellence.
    • Identify, recommend, and implement areas for continuous improvement within account management and the commercial function.
    • Financial management and reporting
      • Review month end results with the Director Asset Management. Providing analysis and explanations on variations to baseline budgets, live budgets and current forecasts positive and negative.
      • Oversee that operational business are managing invoicing to clients and are monitoring outstanding invoices to minimise delays in cash collection to the business for work performed.
      • Prepare summary of performance reports for Director Asset Management monthly.
      • Contract management
        • Ensure delivery teams fully understand contractual obligations for each budget and are compliant with contractual terms. Review work performed to ensure all tasks and materials that are recoverable under the contract are claimed from the client.
        • Review project performance against contract and bid model analysing significant deviations to provide explanations to business and an action plan to mitigate. Implement changes as required to bring projects back on track.
        • Provide support and guidance to the account management team on the delivery of the accounts.
        • Provide support and direction to the commercial team ensuring day to day requirements are executed in a timely manner along with identifying areas for improvement.
        • Client management
          • Ensure work delivery disputed by clients are investigated and resolved on a timely basis.
          • Regional business support
            • Help provide as directed audit support for the AME service line.
            • Provide support to proposals leveraging historical data to ensure that assumptions for future bids are robust and expected margins align with current market expectations and that they will be financially fit for purpose.
            • Deputise for the Director of AME when required.
    • Ensure account performance, both financial and quality, is met, key risks documented and escalated promptly.
    • Assist the Director AME in forecasting 12 month rolling revenue and margins for routine and adhoc. Highlight key risk areas for not attaining budget as part of internal improvement efforts and risk escalation. Ensure margins consider work executed by 3rd parties.
    • Liaise with key clients to determine any risks to account or commercial delivery.
    • Work directly with Operations and Account Management to provide medium to long term look ahead for resourcing.


Client management

  • Ensure work delivery disputed by clients are investigated and resolved on a timely basis.
  • Regional business support
    • Help provide as directed audit support for the AME service line.
    • Provide support to proposals leveraging historical data to ensure that assumptions for future bids are robust and expected margins align with current market expectations and that they will be financially fit for purpose.
    • Liaise with key clients to determine any risks to account or commercial delivery.
    • Work directly with Operations and Account Management to provide medium to long term look ahead for resourcing.
    • Deputise for the Director of AME when required.
