Knowledge / Experience (Skills):

  • Engineering or Business Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • More than 10 years sales, business development leadership with Oil & Gas industry, Energy Transition (H2, CCUS, H2 derivatives) experience, preferably with an Engineering or Engineering Consultancy bias.
  • Also considered, experience in other adjacent Energy/utility markets: - specifically in engineering/operations/maintenance services and/or consultancy.
  • More than 10 years regional experience.
  • Demonstrable track record of growing business.
  • Excellent commercial acumen.
  • Visible Industry presence/reputation.
  • Strong presentation and public speaking capabilities.
  • Self-motivated leader with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong relationship and networking skills.

Main Purpose of Role:

  • Responsible for Sales, Marketing and Business Development leadership and for managing Sales and Marketing activities and performance across the Region.
  • Working with Group Marketing to position Penspen in front of existing and new strategic clients as a leader in engineering services for the oil and gas, gas utilities, products, power, and industrial sectors.
  • Building relationships with existing and new clients to ensure we are viewed as a high quality and trusted business partner so that we can grow our share and scope of spend with them.
  • Monitoring key markets to ensure we have visibility and are well positioned for the most important upcoming projects.
  • Managing opportunities through the sales pipeline in line with Penspen’s business pursuit procedures.
  • Developing compelling commercial and technical proposals to enable Penspen to win profitable contracts in order to deliver Penspen’s Annual Business Plan.
  • Develop the Annual Strategic Sales Plan to help drive profitable growth of the region in alignment with the region business strategy.
  • Lead, manage and develop the business development and proposals team in the region to ensure effective partnering with the region service lines, optimal productivity, and people development.

 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Target Account Management
  • Regional Sales and Marketing strategy including evaluation of strategic relevance
  • Opportunity and Proposal management through our CRM platform and in accordance with our proposals management procedure
  • Regional implementation of our Business Pursuit procedures
  • Responsible for delivering revenue targets across the region for 3 Service Lines including:-Asset Management; Asset Integrity & Engineering & Project Management
  • Focus on Energy Security and Energy Transition in the UK and Europe

 

Responsibilities:

  • Win contracts at targeted margins, aligned with regional business plan/business strategy.
  • Identify potential clients, opportunities, services and market areas for Penspen in the region and record via CRM so ensure follow up and action is taken.
  • Report directly to the regional EVP with secondary reporting line to Regional Director.
  • Work directly with regional EVP/Regional Director to develop and implement the business strategy.
  • Key relationship owner for primary accounts.
  • Seek, build and maintain relationships with existing and potential clients in the region.
  • Support Group marketing campaigns both in the region and more broadly.
  • Plan and support participation in key regional conferences.
  • Utilise key sources of market intelligence to identify key future projects and contracts, and develop plans to ensure Penspen is positioned for them.
  • Develop plans to engage key individuals in client organisations to deepen Penspen’s relationship with their business.
  • Be point of contact for opportunities, as required.
  • Provide oversight and support on proposal and tender submissions.
  • Manage proposal teams in region and ensure all review processes in the business are followed.
  • Work closely with commercial/legal team to ensure proposals are submitted in line with key risk/contracting principles.
  • Ensure appropriate interface and handover to service lines for delivery.
  • Development and implementation of strategic sales & marketing plan in the region.
  • Coordinate S&M activities, including but not limited to S&M team and key region management.
  • Coordinate the maintenance/update of Business Development processes required to support the strategy and objectives, in cooperation with corporate sales & marketing.
  • Ensure target accounts are provided with client engagement plans and ensure that they are actively used throughout the business.
  • Manage the interaction with the wider Penspen business in the context of broader business opportunities for all service lines.
  • Input into development of annual regional plan and preparation of the Sales and Marketing Group budget.
  • Monthly reporting to the Regional Leadership teams.

 

Develop people within the Business Unit:

  • Structure a fit for purpose team within the region
  • Identify and develop talent within the region
  • Maintain the profitability of the business
  • Support expediting of client payments to minimise working capital requirements
  • Manage costs to ensure the efficient running of the business
  • Ensure commercial terms and conditions are optimal

 

Provide leadership to the Sales and Marketing employees:

  • Prepare and implement annual business plans and communicate them through the organisation.
  • Ensure Sales & Marketing have well defined objectives which help to deliver the regional strategy and actively manage their performance in line with Performance @Penspen.
  • Communicate Group and Regional strategy to Business Unit staff and provide regular communications to keep them engaged and motivated.
  • Share best practice with regional business development employees and globally.
